Before resetting your password, please be aware that:

1. Only enter your account name OR your domain name - not both.

DNS Management allows those running a web server to create and manage DNS records for their domain(s) using our nameservers. Using our web-based control panel, you may create and manage A, MX, NS, and CNAME records.

Alias Record: A unique Alias Record should be created for each physical host in your domain that you want to address using a DNS name; an example is mycomputer.mydomain.com. Enter a hostname (e.g. www.domain.com) for your computer and the IP address (e.g. 215.16.45.2) of a computer you want the name to point toward. Note: An Alias is the same as a BIND "A" Record. You may add multiple Aliases with the same hostname but different IP's to provide system redundancy if you have multiple computers providing the same services.

NS Record: A Nameserver Record specifies a host to act as a nameserver for a domain. When first logging into the DNS Management console our nameservers are set to act as the nameserver for your domain(s). The records for our nameservers appear in red in the Management Console. The hostname of a nameserver must be an Alias Record; do not use a CNAME.

MX Record: A Mailserver Record (MX) specifies a host to receive mail for your domain. The hostname of a mail server must be an Alias Record; do not use a CNAME.

CNAME Record: A CNAME Record creates an alias from one fully qualified domain name to another fully qualified domain name. For example, if you wish to have the address ftp.domain.com point to webserver.domain.com you may create the CNAME record ftp.domain.com to point to webserver.mydomain.com. CNAMEs allow you to refer to domain names without having to worry about the actual IP address.

It may take up to 72 hours for a domain to start working after updating nameservers.

Please Check the following:

1. Ensure nameservers updated correctly by logging into your account and verifying the nameservers entered previously are present. If the nameservers are not present, enter them again.
2. Ensure there is authority for your domain on your web host's nameservers. If you have updated your nameservers and your website is not working after 72 hours, it is possible your web host did not create records on their nameservers for your domain. Your domain must be made authoritative on your web host's nameservers for the domain to resolve properly.

To verify that your domain has authority, you can do a DIG Command:

Note: In order for your domain name(s) to be accessible on the Internet, your web host must add a zone file entry on their nameservers for your domain name. Unfortunately, we are not able to help if the authority equals zero (0). To resolve this issue, you must contact your web host.

URL Forwarding allows traffic to redirect from one domain to another. This is a great option if you have a web site with a long URL, or one that is difficult to remember. Set up URL Forwarding to forward your domain to any URL or IP address.

To order URL Forwarding for a domain, please use the following instructions:

1. Log into your account
2. Click on the Manage Domains tab
3. Under the heading, Step 1: Select Domain Management Task, select Add services to selected domains from the drop down menu
4. Select the checkboxes next to the domain(s) you wish to add URL Forwarding to
5. Click Manage Domains button
6. To add the service to your cart, click on the Domain Tools Bundle – FREE
7. Click Continue
8. Review the Registration Agreement and check the box to accept
9. Click Complete Order

Masked (or stealth) URL Forwarding: The true URL of the web site does not appear in the address bar of the browser; the domain name being forwarded appears in its place. Masked URL Forwarding also allows for control of the title located at the top of the browser window.

Unmasked (or standard) URL Forwarding: The true URL of the web site will appear in the address bar of the browser.

Options and Configurations

Destination – Enter the destination URL or IP address here; this is where the domain will forward. Important: The complete address of the destination, including the "http://www", is required when entering the address in the destination box.

Title – Located at the top left of your browser when the page is viewed -- is the most important factor in how your pages are indexed by search engines.

Meta Keywords - Meta keywords are used by search engines to help locate your website in a search.

Meta Description – Provides information about the content of your website to search engines.

Welcome Text - Welcome text is only used if you are using a Welcome/Under Construction page. You may put a note in the welcome text to tell users your site will be up shortly, or any other message you wish to convey. Please note: Welcome text is typically only used if you do not have a domain you are forwarding.

Disable Forwarding - Disable forwarding is only used if you are using services such as DNS Management.

Use Welcome Page – Only select Use Welcome Page if you are using an Under Construction page because your domain is not ready to forward. If you select this box, your domain will not forward.

Pass Subdirectories - If your destination URL has subdirectories, this option will allow the entire address of the forwarded URL, plus the subdirectory, to view correctly in the address bar. For example, if you are forwarding mydomain.com to the URL http://www.domain.com/examplesub, the address bar in your browser will show the forwarded address: http://www.mydomain.com/examplesub. Hence, the complete URL address, including the subdirectory “/examplesub”, is shown.

You may also forward subdomains. If you wish to forward a subdomain(s), enter the hostname and click the "Add Subdomain" button. This will allow you to add the same options from above.

NOTE: In order for URL forwarding to work, you must use the following nameservers:

NS1.MYDOMAIN.COM
NS2.MYDOMAIN.COM
NS3.MYDOMAIN.COM
NS4.MYDOMAIN.COM

If you wish to use your nameservers with our MyDomain.com nameservers, you must ensure that the exact same DNS Records are used in the DNS Management Console and on your personal nameserver. At times, even when the records are exactly the same, we can’t guarantee that it will always work. DNS servers are queried by a Round Robin. If you experience intermittent downtime, it most likely is querying a nameserver that resolves correctly and then one that is corrupted. If you remove the additional nameservers and just use the MyDomain.com nameservers, your website should begin to resolve properly.

6. Enter your domain into the field
7. Select the website/hosting radio box if the content of your website will be located directly in the webspace (on the local server). In this case, you need to indicate the path of the document root location.
8. Click on the Submit button to save your changes.

For this tutorial, we will be using the FTP client Filezilla. It is a free FTP client that allows you to transfer your web files to our web servers so they can be seen on the Internet. If you do not already have a FTP client, please download the freeware, Filezilla located here: http://filezilla-project.org

Here are the steps to upload your web files to our servers:

1. First, you will need to access your FTP settings (Address, Username, Password) within our Hosting Control Panel.
   1. For directions to access FTP settings for a Windows hosting package, please refer to "Access FTP Settings for Windows"
   2. For directions to access FTP settings for a Linux hosting package, please refer to "Access FTP Settings for Linux"
2. Open the Filezilla FTP client
3. Enter the IP from the MyDomain Hosting Control Panel, into the Address field of Filezilla
4. Enter the FTP Login Name: into the User field of Filezilla
5. Enter the FTP Password: into the Password field of Filezilla
6. Click the Quick Connect button

   You are now connected to your webspace. You will see the following directories:

   log
tmp
webspace
7. Under the Remote Site heading (right side), double-click the webspace folder
8. Most likely, you will want to upload your website to the root folder. For Linux Hosting, double-click the httpdocs folder. For Windows Hosting, double-click the wwwroot folder.
9. Under the Local Site heading (left side), find the files that you would like to upload and select them - use the CTRL key to select multiple files – then drag the files to the root folder.

Once the transfer is complete, you will get a message that the file transfer has been successful. Visit your website to make sure that the transfer was successful.

5. Click on the Email addresses link
6. Click on the Add new email address button
7. Enter the user name of your email and choose the domain from the drop down box.
8. Advanced features - You have the choice of enabling such mail advanced features as virus checking and Antispam checking.
9. Password - Enter your unique password and confirm it by re-typing in the corresponding field to make sure you have entered it correctly. DO NOT click on Generate New Password or you will now have overwritten the password that you entered with a system generated password.
   
   NOTE: You can use the automatic password generation function to allow the system to create a unique valid password for you. To use this, click on the Generate new password button. The new password will be displayed for you to remember.
10. Mailbox - You can set the quota on disk space used by this mailbox. You can configure it to use the maximum available storage or set up customer storage space. If you have multiple email users, you will need to customize your storage.
11. Forwarding - If you would like to enable email forwarding, click the box next to 'Enable mail forwarding'. Then enter the destination email addresses separated by a comma, semicolon or space in the corresponding field. Email Forwarding will allow you to not only receive mail to your mailbox, but it will also forward to another mailbox that you may have. For example, you can create duplicate emails, one going to your email box and the other going to your hotmail account.
12. Configure Notifications - Check the 'Send notification' checkbox to enable the configuration settings for sending a notification message to your newly created mailbox. Specify the email address that will be used for notifying a new mailbox.
13. Send test message to new Email address: Check this box to indicate whether you wish to have the test message sent to the new email address
14. Click the Next» button when all values have been entered.
15. Click the 'Finish' button.
