Web features and multiple domains
Here is an easy way to send visitors to all of your domains to
the same website.
For example, let's say that you want all visitors to your domains
to arrive at http://www.websitecompany/users/you. First set up
Website Redirection for one of your domains so that it directs
visitors to that website. Let's say you redirect your domain my-example.com
to that website.
Next use Website Redirection to set http://www.my-example.com
as the destination address for each of your additional domains.
If you ever want to change the website that all of your domains
forward to, you just need to change the destination address for
the original domain my-example.com. The web features of the other
domains will be automatically changed when you change the original-you
don't need to update the web feature for each domain individually.
Using one address to send emails to many places
You can use our email forwarding to have emails addressed to
a specific address forward to multiple destination addresses. So
if you want everyone in your team, or group to receive the same
email, you would simply add as many aliases in the mail settings
for the domain that you want to have forward.
For example if you wanted to have any emails sent to team@yourdomain.com
forward to John, and Sally at the same time. You would login to
your account, then select the domain from your domain list, and
select Edit Email Settings. Now in the Alias field you enter team
(or the name you want to use) and in the Destination field enter
the address that you wish the emails to be forwarded to, and click
Continue, or hit your enter key. Finally you simply repeat that
last step as many times as you need for each member. Please then
allow 2-6 hours for the mail servers to update, and all emails
sent to that address should be recieved by everyone that you want.
One way to slow down spammers
With our email forwarding services you can create any aliases
that you want. For example (myantispamaddress@my-example.com) you
can then forward this to your normal destination address and feel
free to give it out to any online service that you want. If you
then start getting a lot of spam, the easiest thing to do is just
point that alias to a false address. (do not just make something
up at random, you never know if it will be real or not, and you
would just be complicating someone elses life) Once you make the
change to the email alias all email addressed to that address would
bounce back to the sender, and you would not even know about it.
If you ever needed to retrieve an email from that address, you
would only have to turn it on, wait about an hour, and then have
the email sent there. This way if you have a password that will
only be sent to that address you would still be able to get it.
Keeping your name/brand secure
You should always ensure that your domain name is registered for
as many years in advance as you can to ensure that it never gets
lost accidentally but there are other things you should be doing
to protect your name, or your Brand.
You should always try to register the .net, .org, and any other
TLD's that you can for your name/brand to ensure that they do not
fall into the hands of others. This can also ensure that you do
not have to deal with the courts later when you realize that someone
is capitalizing on your well developed name/brand.
Do not under any circumstances give anyone full access to your
domain. This means you should never provide anyone with the means
to change the WhoIS, or DNS of your domain. Instead create a user
level account for them with your registrar. This can be set to
allow them certain access to your domain, but they would never
be able to simply take the domain from you, or take control. New
users often make this mistake, and we have seen this prove very
costly.
You should know your registrar, and understand the processes involved
in making changes through them. It is usualy much easier than you
think, and you really do not need to have someone else do this
for you.
You may even want to look into Trademarking your domain/brand,
as this can help you to protect the name/brand from misuse by
others.
