Many major search engines, including AltaVista and Yahoo, require
you to submit your website using their submission forms. You can
usually find links to these forms from the search engine's main
page.
Submission Services
Although submitting your website to search engines is free, there
are some companies on the Internet that offer to submit your website
to multiple search engines for a fee. Some companies even claim
they can improve your ranking within search engines. Because of
the number of companies offering these services, we cannot advise
you on the quality of a particular company. We can tell you that
prices and offerings vary considerably, so you should shop around
before committing to any of these services.
Which Website Address to Use
When submitting your website to search engines, you can submit
your website using your domain as the website address, or you can
use the true address of your website. It is up to you how you would
like your website to be listed. We have not been informed of any
conflicts between our web features and submission to any search
engines.
